Mobile drug testing presents a great opportunity of doing business. It is geared at providing a working environment that is safe productive and free from drugs while at the same time reducing costs of maintaining such an environment. Its selling point is that it enables testing at workplaces, learning institutions and government offices within the normal working hours. It is effective as it saves on transportation costs and losses from the time lost while workers are transported to the different location for testing.

There are two schools of thought concerning the issue above. There are some that are for this idea while others do not support this idea. Those that are in support of this idea believe that the general public should be protected from the damage intoxicated people can do. They claim that the test is done for the interest of the public. Therefore, it is viewed as a tool for knowing those who are going against the law, and in addition, endangering their lives and the lives of others.

Moreover people that use drugs cost the state in excess of ten billion dollars yearly. Supporters of this activity claim that abusers are linked to various problems. Police reports indicate that drug abusers have a greater probability of being arrested for theft and assault hence supporting the claims.

Drug abuse costs the state a lot of money with a high percentage of the costs related to unproductively of workers who go to work while they are intoxicated. It also burdened the health care system responsible for the whole nation and justice system. This is escalated by the notion that only social services agencies are burdened with the problem of handling substance abuse cases.

Alcohol consumption and drug abuse has been associated with most tragedies in high schools as well as mass shipping, vehicle and plane crashes. Employers should take the responsibility of ensuring their employees are not abusers. These will ensure the safety of customers and will be for the greater good of the society.

Opponents of analysis individual's samples for substance presence has a great number of reasons. Some perceive it to be an abuse to individual's rights . This is the most revered civic right and is part of the constitution of the state.

An individual has right to freedom unwarranted search according to the fourth amendment of the constitution. These are interpreted to mean that without concrete reason individuals right of privacy cannot be sidelined. It is for the same reason that it is illegal for the police to conduct a search without getting a warranted from the court.

Some people argue that what one does at home is not the business of other people. Mobile drug testing could lead to revelation of an individual's private information against their will. For example an individual who is under medication because he has attention deficit disorder, may test positive for amphetamines. These individual will be wrongly accused of abusing substances and to avert being charged for abusing drugs will have to reveal his condition which he would have preferred to keep private.
