What is Going on With Kettlebells?

Many individuals see kettlebells as something that they just dismiss under the numerous amounts of workout equipment. What advantage are you going to get from kettlebell exercises that you don't get from just lifting weights? Kettlebells can give you an efficient workout for your entire body in lesser time than from an exercise made primarily of lifting weights. However, not a lot of people in the United States know where these weights originated from.

The Russians are credited with inventing these little weights, while they have in actuality been around for thousands of years, in one form or another, with one name or another. But whether or not it was the ancient Romans, Scotsmen, or Russians who first realized the value of kettlebells as an exercise tool, the discovery was an amazing one. The ordinary balls of metal with a handle connected are simply one of the best styles out there.

Kettle bells are simply remarkable. They are metal weights that happen to have a handle connected to it. It is an old Russian saying called "pood" which describes the different amounts of weights used. The poods it is estimated weight around 36 pounds. The very term "pood" goes way back, around 800 years ago. These weights were used as counter weights when trying to measure out items.

The kettlebell workouts, however, are all about extreme physical workouts with a long term payoff. The afterburn effect, when your body continues to burn calories up to 48 hours after you quit working out, is one of the leading derivatives of kettlebell workouts. You can work out 1-2 hours every other day and still get the same workout as if you went every day of the week for 4-5 hours. The extreme muscle workout that the kettlebells provide make this viable.

One important thing to remember is that kettlebells are not an instant success product. If you are looking for that, then you need to look in another place. There is not a single legitimate exercise plan that does not mandate time and sweat to achieve results. Kettle-bells are certainly included in that. But the payoffs show in a brief period of time. If running on a treadmill at the gym imitating a hamster is for you, then by all means run. But if working out three days a week, from your own home while getting rapid results appeals to you, try out kettle bell exercises today.
