You will also need an airtight plastic container, some rocks, pebbles, sand, fish line and a sealable plastic bag.

First of all, take notice whether or not the container that you pick is too heavy because you do not want it to be difficult to remove from the water when you are finished with it. If the one you have picked does not already have a hole in the handle, you will need to create one so you will be able to put a line through it. When you are creating your hole, be really careful that no other part of the container gets punctured.
After you have successfully made the hole and put the fish line through, test your creation to see whether or not it is likely to leak. It is simple to tell if a container will leak, just watch under the surface of the water and take notice of whether or not you see bubbles rising to the surface. If you see bubbles then, unfortunately your container is leaking and you will need to begin again with another type of container.

Next, close the cover as snugly as possible and double check the fish line has remained secure and then place into the lake gently. Once it is in the lake, try not to touch or bump it because any disturbance may discourage the fish from being inquisitive enough to get close.
